The Aftermath of GITEX Africa: Unveiling Flowdiary's Unique Success

Image
When I publicly broke the news of Flowdiary's selection to represent Nigeria at Africa's biggest tech event, GITEX Africa, an old friend hit my inbox congratulating us, adding that he thought we started this thing (he meant Flowdiary ) as just a "play" project, which made him to ask, “What's the secret of Flowdiary's success?” The latter question got me thinking from the day we set this startup up fast forward to the day we announced our participation in GITEX Africa. The journey wasn't easy – it was tough, of course. However, to fulfill a big dream isn't a journey of even a thousand days, it goes far beyond that. When we first applied for GITEX Africa, we didn't expect we'd be selected to represent Nigeria — as Sir Tafawa Balewa put it that when he assumed office as Nigeria's Prime Minister he didn't expect things to be easy! Then after a couple of days, Engr. Ibrahim Auwal, our Senior Technology Officer, showed me the email that excit...

Flowdiary: A Mega Project to Reduce Joblessness in Nigeria

Image
We are working on a mega project to reduce joblessness in Nigeria, primarily the northern region, by teaching the core knowledge, adoption and implementation of digital skills among youths for self-reliance at our digital learning platform, Flowdiary . This eLearning platform is an EdTech startup that teaches digital skills in Hausa language for reliance. It's a huge task hardly to be accomplished by a small group of people, it needs cooperation from different aspects to achieve the goal of empowering youths through digital skills. Being in the world of tech for almost a decade, and because I have a passion and zeal for helping my fellow youngsters with the little I have through training, mentorship, and support, I have tried to cover these in less than 3 years:   In September 2019, I authored a 110-page eBook called eBillions Mastery which talks about the legitimate ways to earn money on the internet by adopting some lucrative digital skills and gave it for free to my fello...

Image
On September 16, 2021, Yobe State Scholarships Board planned an event to award the participants of its Maiden Annual Essay Competition, where seven challenges were given. Mohiddeen Ahmad also participated and wrote briefly on the impacts of information technology in creating job opportunities in Yobe State. Introduction In this digital era, information technology is described as any technology that powers the processing, storage, transfer, and enables information flow within an organization. Anything involved with computers, websites, databases, internet, software, telecommunications, networks, servers and intranets falls under this sector. Information technology has also helped in making this world a global village –voices are heard from far away, information is spread virtually, businesses are done simply and knowledge is acquired with ease. Examples of informatio...

Data Science: Digital Means of Unveiling Culprits and Their Deadliest Intentions

Image
In one of my unpublished research papers “The Role of Data Science in Detection of Fraud and Intrusion over a Network”, I explained in detail how fraud, intrusion and any kind of illegal communications and actions can be detected and thwarted with the use of modern technologies. The implementation of modern technologies such as machine learning and data science algorithms like logistic regression and artificial neural networks which have human-like decision-making techniques will play an enormous role in this kind of task. Today, internet fraud is increasingly becoming very common in the modern world because even in the technologically and economically developed countries like the United States, this pandemic fraud is still partaking on the virtual planet like a bushfire. According to Rossenberg (2007), in 2006, the United States recorded a loss of 198 million dollars due to internet fraud, while in the same year BBC report says the United Kingdom recorded an annual loss of 150 million...

(Opinion) Digitalize Nigeria’s Biometric Security System

Image
Nigeria as the most populous country in the entire continent is yet to innovate and implement its security system in which hypocritical communications will be hindered whereas intrusions, fraud and terrorism will be thwarted. Today, all developed countries have approached this unavoidable development. In these counties, a fraudster or an intruder would be detected in a short period of time using their modern detection machines with artificial intelligence capability. A recent project proposed by the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy shows how mobile phone numbers and Bank Verification Numbers (BVN) will be linked with citizens’ national identity cards to thwart all those hypocritical communications ov...

5G Technology: History, Concept, Features and Constraints:

Image
Historical Background History of Wireless Cellular Technology Way back in the 1950s, the first commercial analog mobile communication system was launched in the US. It had very low market penetration for years after its launch. Formally speaking, the first generation (1G) mobile phone was launched three decades later and continued to use analog signals. With the advent of microprocessors and the dawn of the digital age, analog mobile communication was digitized and we had a second generation of mobile communication (2G) technology enter the picture. 2G was fully digital, i.e., dealing only with 1s and 0s. Besides improving the quality of voice transmission and reception, 2G also introduced SMS—a feature that millennials used with devotedly before instant messengers like WhatsApp arose and changed the social lives of “netizens”. A couple of years later, General Packet Radio Services (GPRS) was added to 2G, which allowed users to browse th...
